On the eve of the Geneva International Motor Show, where several amazing luxury cars made their debuts, the 2017 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Cabriolet was introduced to the automotive world. The open-top version of the newest-generation C-Class is the latest in what Mercedes-Benz’s head of marketing and sales Ola Källenius calls the brand’s lineup of “dream cars.”
Two variants of the C-Class Cabriolet will go on sale in the United States in late summer: the Mercedes-AMG C43 with a 362 hp V-6 engine; and the C300, powered by a 241 hp inline-4 and available in rear-wheel- or all-wheel drive. Both models feature a fabric soft top, based on that used on the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Cabriolet, which employs multiple layers of acoustic material for a quiet ride. The top can be raised or lowered in about 20 seconds while the car is traveling as fast as about 30 mph.
Occupants can stay cozy with the top down with standard features such as Mercedes-Benz’s Airscarf neck-heating vents and a climate-control system that blows warmer air onto the driver’s hands when the top is down. An automatic draft stopping system is optional.
Sport suspension, sport steering wheel, and unique wheels accompany the C43 Cabriolet; an air suspension is optional on the C300. Mercedes can outfit both models with a variety of its connectivity and active safety features, including a Driving Assistance package that allows the car to steer and brake semi-autonomously. Mercedes has not yet announced pricing. (mbusa.com)
