On October 8, at the opening of Grand Designs Live—an annual showcase of innovative design in Birmingham, England—Lexus will unveil the world’s first origami-inspired car. Modeled after its Lexus IS, the vehicle consists of a steel-and-aluminum frame, and 1,700 laser-cut sheets of The Lexus logo on the front of the vehicle is made of cardboard. The back of Lexus’s origami car. The cardboard vehicle includes LED headlights. The wheels are also cardboard. Each of the four doors opens and closes. The center console between the driver and passenger shows intricately cut cardboard parts. The interior air vents mimic those found in traditional vehicles.
